I am thinking of buying one but not sure which barrel length is better .

I ordered one from a dealer name Joe in PA for $1290 shipped to my FFL , his ID on Gunbroker is jdm399 . Have a choice for 16 or 18 .How much did you pay for your?

About the same, $1499 - $200 rebate and "free" t-shirt (Ratworx rebate offer, ended Wednesday).

But I got the 18.5" heavy bbl model, in a green stock (already had a black E4 with OEM optic)

As to your length question, if I were getting a first/only E4 I would go short, personally. And, indeed, that's what I did with my first one.

The 16in with optic is very cool and the rail with optic is mean looking . I am going with the 16in and found the E4 optic from one of the member here . Like the original look .

This is one of the great things about the AUG platform, buy whichever you like most and then get the other barrel. As soon as the budget allows, I'm getting a 18.5 in barrel.

I have a 16" and I'm happy with it, because I wanted to be as short as I could go without an SBR. I get around 2" groups at 100 yards (sometimes better sometimes a little worse depending on ammo and my shooting that day).

Seems like everyone and their cousin though swears by the 18.5" heavy barrels as being really accurate, but I've got no personal experience with them to say one way or the other.

I'm confused. I thought the E4's came in 16" or 20". Did they replace 20 with 18.5?

The 18.5" Heavy Barrel version was just a limited run, very few made.

Last I looked, RatWorx still had a few left. I started to order one more before the rebate offer expired, but ended up holding out... I still want an RFB.
