I have a traditional bolt action rifle that I have never been satisfied with, so I am going to replace the barrel with a stainless Shillen, get a new synthetic stock and have the trigger worked on.  I'd also like to make the blued action rust proof.  I have heard about these baked on finishes.  Would one of them do the trick, or is there some other finish that would work better?  It needs to be durable.

Thanks.

Teflon and hard chrome seem to be some of the most durable finishes.

A parkerized finish with a GunCoat styled coating is also super sweet.

Go with one of the moly paint coatings.

If you can, new parkerizing job. Leave dry, spray with Brownells MolyCoat and cure by baking on.
Bake it on when the missus isn't home.
