The Remington Web site shows a number different model 700 firearms but just a few chambered for the .223.
Which of these has the better reputation as a pure target gun meaning target shooting and not necessarily for hunting?

I would suggest the 700VS, 700P or PSS, or the 700LTR. These all come with an H-S precision stock (last time I checked at least) which is a big plus.

since its only a .223, i would opt for the LTR (the P is just a tad too long for me)

yeah, in a 223 i'd probably go with the LTR also, nice size and weight for a 223
