I just purchased a (well) used Mossberg with a 20" VR barrel (Accu-choke tubes too!) and the teeniest little-bitty brass front sight bead.

That is totally unacceptable for sights on one of my "social" guns and it needs SERIOUS improvement asap. FWIW, my other Mossy pumpguns have ghost ring sights but I don't want to retrofit this gun with them due to wanting to keep it as low-buck and streamlined as possible.

After about 60 minutes of staring at the myriad of bead sights available from the likes of MidwayUSA or Brownells I get a bit cross-eyed. Also, with the VR barrel I can easily drill & tap threads for a more secure installation.

Any thoughts as to a good, HIGHLY visible front bead sight that is tough enough to take a beating?

As usual, thanks in advance.

HI-Vis Comp sight is one of the best for just front bead sights. easy to put on and about 25 bucks. Comes with three color Hi-vis tubes and three sizes of beads. Use blue loctite on the screw if you use it.

I have a Hi-Vis on my 590 it does work well. My 500 doesn't have any sights, it does have a Surefire forearm. The 500 is the "bump in the night" gun.
