Is there a difference between the 2 models?

The 1300 has a 3" chamber and the 1200 has a 2 3/4" chamber. Other than that, they are very similar, mechanically. The 1300 is basically the updated version of the 1200. The 1300 has different finishes and configurations and such, but the 1200 will accept 1300 barrels - you just can't use 3" shells as the 1200 is only designed to handle 2 3/4". I have a 1200 that dates back to the late 70's, early 80's.

My father has a 1200 and I a 1300...

Like what was said, my 1300 is a 3", the 1200 a 2.75". The only difference I've found is my father's is a little more silky from use over all the years.

P.S. Oh yeah, and I can't leave out the cool "Speed Pump" logo on my 1300.

Seems the 1200 had more drop in the stock also.

I had a 1200 Defender that took 3" shells, so not all 1200s were 2.75" only. The 1300 Defender I have now is identical mechanically as far as I can tell. I think the difference is primarily cosmetic. The 1300 Defender is matte finished, the old 1200 was gloss.
