Put in my first form 4 a couple weeks ago so I am just starting to play the waiting game. All the forums and NFA tracker are saying about 8 months wait time these days. I know a lot of peopl put forms in before 41F took effect and flooded the system increasing wait times.

However all I have been hearing is that suppressor sales have basically stopped because of 41F and anticipation of the HPA passing. A local gun shop told me a while back that they went from processing 10-15 forms a week to only a handful every month and we all heard about the SilencerCo layoffs. I am assuming that this is happening to everyone. I know that nobody will be able to give a definitive answer to this question but I am curious what people think will happen to wait times once the NFA gets through the flood of pre-41F submissions? You would think that wait times would go down since there are as many forms to get through but it is the US government we are talking about here.

I would assume that the stats will go way down on wait times provided applications went down.  I have no idea how many applied.  But as government works, as soon as stats go down, they lay off examiners.  Lets hope not.  I would also assume that paper submissions will take a bit longer than electronic did...that and the additional paperwork of fingerprinting.  I think it will be better as it is now but not quite as good as efile was

Probably right about the layoffs. Keep people in and actually do stuff in a timely fashion?  Nooooooope. Can't do that.

I submitted in September so either way I doubt I'll see mine any faster.

Unless they cut staff, it will almost assuredly go way down.

If they don't cut staff, I bet it will go way down at least for a while until we hit the "new normal".  I wouldn't be surprised if they catch up to Dec-2016 within a few months of finishing the July batch.
