Mossberg 590. I have it for home defense.

If 9 rounds of 00 buck does not persuade them to leave, I don't know what will.

Deer hunting gun and unwanted piece of job equipment.

In other words the only two things I use a shotgun for are reluctantly becuase someone else says I have to.

#1 use is Sporting Clays, Skeet, 5-Stand, etc.

I have a 45 for home defense.

If I was expecting some bad guys to come over I'd probably dial 911, then get a shotgun, then hope the cops didn't shoot me

have to agree with my man on that one.
versatility of loads, psychological deterrent, more defensible in court...........

Got an O/U I use for clays, a pump I use for birds, a 590 I bought because I like the way it looks, and an 870 Wingmaster NIB that I bought because the shop only wanted $200 for it.

I've got a case of Federal Tactical Buckshot loads to use in the 590 should I want it in a social situation but I'm more liekly to pick up one of my M4geries.

The shotgun is my primary firearm.  I like rifles, and someday I'll own some handguns as well, but I just seem to be an innate shotgunner.

Plus, I just picked up my new (to me) Mossberg 500 Bullpup.  Wow.

Just can't take it to Maryland...

Grouse and Pheasant.  Home defense is delegated to AR and 92FS.

I use it for trap, I suppose it could be used for deer, but 18" is probably too short for bird hunting, and to hand to my neighbor if TSHTF.  I use rifles and pistols to take care of my own defense.

So the general opinion seems that for most the shotgun is more of a secondary weapon in most cases, meaning not really owning multiple scatterguns the same way most do rifles.

Benelli Preban M1 Super 90, 18.5" with rifle sights: This thing is unreal! I was making man size hits (18"x12" steel gong) using Remington Low Recoil Slugs at 300 yards with the shotgun. I was amazed! I was only aiming about 12 inches above the target at that range too. I would have figured I would need to lob them in like artillery at that range. 4 MOA accuracy is not bad for a shotgun at 300 yards. I have reconsidered my options for SHTF/Riot Control with performance like that. And using Federal Low Recoil 00 Buck and rapid firing it makes for a great "area denial" weapon from 100-250 yards.

Mossberg 590A1, 20", Ghost Rings ("Orange Blade of Death") and bayo lug: Nothing scarier than seeing a shiny piece of steel on the end of a shotgun. How cool is a shotgun with a bayonet? I have not done much shooting with this beyond 25 yards but this shotgun is also a viable SHTF/Riot option. After seeing the performance of the Benelli I would imagine my Mossberg will be the same if not better with the added 1.5" of barrel.

I am glad to have them but if the S really, REALLY HTF then I will be relying on my M4's for primary duty. But having the shotguns as back-up... or to dole out to whom ever I recruit into my little army as we head for the hills.... well.... backup is always much appreciated.

I keep a decent amount of Shotgun ammo in my SHTF storage too.

.223 M193 - 16-7 pocket bandoliers stored in 4 .50cal ammo cans (3360 rounds)
.45ACP - 1000 rounds of Federal 230gr. FMJ
         200 rounds of Federal 230gr. JHP Hydra-Shok
9mm - 1000 rounds of 147gr. FMJ for 9mm AR15's
.38 spl - 200 round of Federal JHP
12 gauge - 500 rounds Federal Low Recoil 00 Buck
200 rounds Remington Low Recoil Slugs
          200 rounds Birdshot for hunting
.308 - 200 rounds of Federal 168gr. Match Grade
.22 - 2000 rounds of Remington

The 870 Wingmaster is my hunting shotty-gun. My LAW12 just kind of hangs around in the safe and keeps the peace. Its more of a safe queen than a useful tool but it looks evil so I keep it.

I use my Rem 870 Marine Magnum for home defense on land, or at sea.

I had a Scattergun Tech K-9 modified 11-87 for a couple years, but I sold it.  Damned thing never worked right, even after getting new trigger components from the factory.  It was a nice-looking gun, but I wouldn't put my life in its hands.

Remington 870 magnum, Special Purpose 12ga. 20' barrel. At night a gentle but serious "Boogie Man" stopper. In spring screw in the Hastings super full choke and watch the smoke fly from the turkeys head. And sometimes really fun to shoot clays with it.For rabbit and birds Smith & Wesson Springfield mod. 916 12ga. 28" ribbed barrel.

I own Mossberg 590A1, its my primary and only home defense weapon.  Nothing fancy, no "glow-in-the-dark" sight, no flashlight, no sling but loaded with low recoil law enforcement ammo.

My Remington 870 HD takes the role of "Space Hog" in the safe.  I rarely shoot it.  I cant sell it because everytime I sell it I buy another one.  This is the 4th new one that I have owned.  I learned my lesson.  Dont sell it just let it sit.  I need a benelli or something, then maybe I'll do more shotgunning.

I REALLY enjoy the spring turkey season.
A 1187 SP is a bit heavy,But I that's she's mostly used for.
The 20ga. 870 upland special is also a sweety for pass shooting dove or over a couple of good dogs during quail season or even during the rabbit season, it's light and points fast,I wish Rem still made em.
So.......I use the scatterguns to hunt,But if needed I've plenty of slugs & buckshots too.
the other's in the safe just take up space. The Win.1897 12ga was my greatgrandfather's,It's cool with the hammer and pump action but I never take it out.
Hunting.Yep,That's what I mostly do with em.
