Hello;

  I am looking to replace the trigger in my 700VLS, This one will be used for sitting in a farm field, blasting woodchucks.  I got the factory down to a really crisp 3# which would be great from my deer rifle, but not for this, I would like to get to about 1.5#, 2# max.  I have a Jewell on my vssf that I strictly use for target shooting on the bench that is set to 8oz. w/no safty installed.

Has anyone tried a Shilin, they are about half the price of a Jewell. Any sugestions???

I set the factory trigger on my 700 BDL Varmint at 18 ounces.  It's not hard at all, and will serve your needs much cheaper than an aftermarket job.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

You must have gotten a good one.  I tried to get it lower, but it was just too hairy for my liking.  for example, the letoff wasn't uniform, ( it seemed to be 1# sometimes and 2# the next time), sometimes it would not engage when I closed the bolt(ie like holding your finger on the trigger while closing the bolt)

It just didn't seem reliable or safe.  The factory trigger on my PSS I got a very clean 2# out of it and could probably go farther with it but with ergonomics of that rifle, 2# is very comfortable.

I have never had any experience with Timney triggers, but have heard good reviews about them.

Hello,
I have 3 Pss & a LTR , the Pss have factory triggers set from 2 to 3 lbs . they are good , very crisp . the LTR has a Timney i have it set at 2 1/2 lbs , i would recommend the Timney also it can adjust  from 1 to 4 lbs and it has zero creep and breaks like glass, i bought it because for 40.00 it was too good of a trigger to pass up on Ebay , it has 5/16 lock down nuts on the adjustments also .
