I have a Clark Custom Ruger 10/22.  I am looking for the best .22LR scope to bolt on to it.  Price is no option.  Opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks

You will get varying opinions, and brands ...... my answer is specific to my needs and taste and may not be suitable for yours.

Best 22lr scope for doing what? I've got a Leupold 2-7x28 rimfire scope and it's pretty damn sweet.

Look at the Schmidt and Benders. I prefer them to the leupold Mk 4s. Just a little more clear.

That ia a sweet set up!
what mount are you using on that Marlin? does it just mount to the receiver or is it also bolted to the barrel somehow?

I am certainly no expert when it comes to choosing a scope for a .22, but I do use a bit of common sense when doing so.  The rule of thumb, some would say, would be to spend 1/2 the cost of the rifle on good glass.  Well, maybe.   Some of the suggestions posted here indicate you should spend 3X the cost of the rifle on a scope...that, IMHO, is totally insane and a complete waste of money. Folks, this is a 22, not a 50 caliber BMG.  There are GREAT scopes that can be had for under $150.00.   Now, some will scoff at this and flame me, but heck, I don't care...it's your money.  Some suggestions, depending on what you are going to use the .22 for are  :  Burris 3X9X40  Ballistic Plex    like about $150.00, or BSA Sweet 22....under $100.00  or Barska 6.5-20X50 Varmint w/target dot....under $100.00  or Mueller ATP    with mil-dot reticle   about $150.00.  All of these scopes can be found on Amazon, along with their respective ratings and customer reviews.  I have found Amazon to be honest in their reviews, you get to read the good with the bad.   Then you get to make up YOUR mind.

best of luck on your quest.

I agree that "best" is generally a relative term that depends on a number of elements. That said I would agree that the Leupold VX-II 3-9x33mm EFR is the best general purpose rimfire scope on the market.

I do have that one on a CZ 452 Scout and agree its a nice scope to well suited for situations were small size is more important that top end magnification.

I have a Leupold similar to the one posted above on my 452 Varmint.  I absolutely hate the 1/4MOA elevation adjustments.  I have gotten used to the LRT M3 with the 1/2 MOA wind and 1MOA elev. on my Rem 700.  When dialing up the 452 from 25M to 150M, the 1/4MOA just simply sucks.

That means I am shopping for a scope too................

Thanks!

The mount is a Weaver #90. There are two holes drilled into the top of the receiver and it just screws into those.

At the time I set my 10-22 up I put a Leopold 6.5x20 EFR on it...not a cheap scope but it was suited to the games I was playing with the gun....If you're not shooting precision targets where high mag is a benefit then a lower power scope might be a better fit...I think if you were a little more specific about your intended use it would help greatly...Hunting rig? something in the 2.5x10 or 3x9 range would likely do you well...if you want a money's no object scope then likely Zeiss, S&B, Swarsovski, etc are acknowledged as the finest of the fine.

The OP said price wasn't a factor. A Leupold rimfire 4X or 2-7 variable can be had for $219 shipped from Midway. I'd be happy with either on any general purpose .22. I'd go pricier on a dedicated bench/target gun.
