A friend of mine just got his hands on this rifle, and asked if I could get him some info on it. Any knowledge you have of it is appreciated.

uh... it's old and it's in a very girly gun case.

Appears to be one of the South American Mausers, Argentine I think.

looks to be in 7x57mm, with a bubba done stock.

I stand corrected.

how does it shoot ?

Bubbaed Spanish Mauser, probably a M43 in 8mm. The "La Coruna" gives it away.

Appears to be a Spanish Mauser that has had a run in with the notorious Stock Butcher.

It's chambered in 8mm Mauser according to the stamp on the left hand side of the receiver (Cal 7.92), but on things like this I would always recommend checking carefully first.
