FWIW, right after the '94 AW ban was signed into law, I sold my two Colt AR SP1s for $800 each, kicked in $400 of my own cash and bought a transferable Colt factory M16A1 for $2k. Then, so I could shoot it at an indoor (pistol-caliber-only) range, I bought a Colt 9mm upper and ten Colt 32-round 9mm mags
for $120 each. I spent almost as much for high-cap 9mm mags as I paid for my M16.
I don't see any new law happening right away, if at all ... and like I said, Congress could just as easily pass a law that requires any existing high-cap mags to be blocked to 10 rounds or less.
My only advice would be to forget about "some day" and buy what you want
now. Bolt-action rifles, pump shotguns and revolvers are way down anyone's list, so unless they have sentimental value, sell those and get semiautos, mags and NFA stuff while you still can. Then shoot the daylights outa them before you are faced with a moral/legal decision about whether to neuter or turn them in.
Your Mileage May Vary.
