I want a 20" barrel for my gen 4 STG556.

CDNN has 20" optic variant STG's for $1099. (one ten round magazine). Figure OTD it's $1200.

All I want to keep is the barrel...what would the pther parts net me?

I have plenty of spare parts already, and don't need ANY of the other parts (except the bolt carrier and piston rods––but that doesn't seem like a breakage prone part, anyways).

Parts may be hard to come by as MSAR's future is questionable.  Demand drives prices, so parting a gun may net you more than you paid for the whole.

If MSAR's future is questionable the employees are unaware of it. Everyone I've talked to is extremely busy.

Chicken daddy- spare barrels seem to be the high demand part. If you are trying to sell the remaining guts as a one-off sale I wouldn't expect any more than 400.00

In a few weeks time I would be interested in purchasing the carcass if you make the purchase. (IM me if you're interested and we can discuss price)

For pete's sake, completely unfounded statement.

It might net you more in the long run but it will take much longer to get it all.

I don't think that buying a rifle for $1200 and parting it out could net you more than you paid for it is unfounded.  I've seen the barrels alone going for $400-500 on the EE, stocks for $300, optics for upward of $300, I'm sure a receiver could fetch $500-600 (saw one sell on Gunbroker for over $600), bolt carriers for $150, bolt for $100.  I had some parts listed and they all sold within a few days.

He asked a question about the viability of parting out a rifle, and I gave my opinion.  I also am not on the MSAR is defunct bandwagon and I have just purchased a new E4 and hope to pick up another STG as soon as I can afford it.  I hope they are busy and continue to be long into the future.  That said, when was the last time someone bought a spare barrel from MSAR?

The barrel is the big ticket item. You could probably get $400 to $500 for the barrel alone. The 1.5x optics I've seen have been priced at about $250.

Receiver is a big ticket item, but I'm not sure there is a ton of demand for spare receivers.

Stocks go for about $300 to $350 new last I've seen.

You should be able to recoup $750-850 selling the remaining parts off but it may take a while(3-6 months).

Please give us some details on what MSAR employees are busy working on.  Thanks !

I was referring to the comment about the questionable future.  I agree that he could make more by selling individual parts

Last sold barrel on the EE here went for mid 3's––a 16".  One is sitting on the EE at $500 (a 20").

I would think the 16's are more desired?

Scopes seem settled at $250.

Bolts at around $100.

Ok, what do you think of these revised figures:

Receiver (to you, the serialized part, so has to be transferred through an FFL): $400 shipped.  This may be pre-sold.
Stock: $225 shipped. (With hammer pack, or should I part that out separate)?
Optic: $250 shipped.
Carrier: $100 shipped (I'm OK if I keep the carrier with pistons).
Bolt: $ 100 shipped (left or right handed, or would one command a premium)?  I'm OK if I have to keep this.

That puts me into the barrel I want at about half price of what others are charging, and even some spares I don't have.  Do you think these priices are realistic?

Those prices are not only realistic they're very fair.  They should sell very quickly.

My guess is that 16" barrels are more desireable right now since the rifles at ratworx are all 18 or 18.5 right now with most the 16" rifles sold out. You can get E4s with 16" barrels from a few other places, but they're a lot more money than the E4s at ratworx.

Would it be fair to charfe a little more on some of the parts w/out gouging? (except the receiver).

Ok, so if I pull the trigger,  I will be selling the stock...What color will sell better, green or black?

Those prices are good to go!

If you would rather have a nice E4 barrel, I would love to buy the carcass of the E4!

OK, Some in the know people recommended $175-$200 on the carrer and pistons (no bolt)...

But three of you wanted to jump on it for $100.  That tells me that $100 was a SUPER deal...and I may have to charge a bit more for it...

Had to get a black stock, as the green stock ones all had the really ugly compensator...I'm sure there was a cool looking one I remember seeing around, but this one wasn't it, so I went with the tulip hider and black.

Your guys help has been appreciated, especially the pre-sale of the receiver.  I would not have been able to get a barrel for a decent price with out you guys.  Thanks.

Meh, I'd have taken that ugly compensator and switched you a tulip for it.  I like it much better.

I like compensators better, too––but this one looked a lot different than most I had seen on mSARs.  It was welded on, toto, according to the rep.
