So what are you guys doing for your firearms this year? What are you doing about it now?
Here are my New Year's Firearms resolutions: FINISH ALL PROJECTS!!! What am I doing about it? Well, my Browning Hi-Power is in the shoppe getting a new finish and new Novak Tritiums. I have already done the blending and polishing and have a new sear from Cylinder and Slide fitted, installed and tested. My Remington 700 in 300 Win Mag is having twin ejectors installed to compnsate for the Harris Extractor that really helped extraction but ruined the ejection. My Stainless 1911 NRM has been dehorned and reblasted, all MIM parts were replaced and it looks and shoots great. BUY NEW QUALITY ACCOUTRAMENTS: I've already bought new Galco Leather for the 1911 and I am off to Galco tomorrow to get a nice FLETCH holster ( or something ) for the HP. Also getting a new Galco Belt. What I really need is more mags for everything. I have a lot of good GI AR and M14 mags and quite a few Wilson mags for the 1911 but the HP needs more facotry mags....needless to say I am getting more mags for everything. AMMO....'nuff said. I need a healthy stash. I only have a couple hundred rounds for each gun as of now. So...what about you guys? |
Attend a tactical carbine course. I've done two pistol ones already, time to get some more trigger time on the rifle.

not so much a new years resolution, but i have decided to make the rifle i have relatively complete before i move on to anything else( optic, more mags, diff stock, about 1500 more rounds, other stuff) by the end of the year i also want to have a pistol and a FAL. i get a feeling this never ends.
I'm saving for an HK sear pack. I might pick up a DSA STG Para Carbine this year as well, and maybe a USP 45 Compact. I already have a form 4 in process that will clear sometime this winter (AAC .45 Evolution). Any more, if I dont' have at least something pending, I just dont' feel right.

Funny you should ask!
After the Washington Hometown Forums Annual New Year's Day Shoot, I SWEAR I'll never bring more than 4 GUNS to a shoot again --- ever! I 'resoluted' that after packing, carrying, getting rained on and wiping down about 11 guns this time! I've finally gotten every friend, neighbor and relative out for a shoot with the various kinds of guns/actions/calibers/etc. and from now on we shoot fewer guns, but more often! Some of you know what I mean, dont'cha? |
Training and spend more time at the range. I have enough fucking guns (not like I wont buy any more this year )
Incorporate, obtain a C&R license for the corp and focus on NFA items mainly.
Build an M14 SA on a LRB M25 receiver with a stainless or chrome barrel and USGI parts.
Stop buying parts, books, mags, ammo etc for my M1 carbine.
Get an AR15. Start buying ammo, mags, parts, etc for my AR15. Save up money for handgun purchase in November (I finally turn 21) Shoot far more often. |
One of my next "goals" is to replace the Springfield Receivers on my 2 M1As with LRBs. Actually the Scout is getting a chrome lined barrel in the process, too!!! That's about 2 grand or more in parts and labor so it's wayyy down on the list. I am heading out for more gunleather tomorrow! |
One of my new year's resolutions was actually to buy my first gun. All of my prior experience with guns has been rented stuff at the local pistol range.
Buy a 16 inch midlength upper from rock river(better sight radious and can attach bayo better)
Sig 226 9mm Kimber Custom 2 .45 Lots of ammo Finish building Custom 8mm Mauser from my engraved FN commercial Reciever Mount Scopes on above rifle and get an EOTECH Get another AK maybe a FAL or M1A |
Buy more weapons, buy more ammo, practice at the range more!!!
Finish Yugo .308 mag project
Sight in the Yugo .308 Sight in the Mosin Nagant M38 Buy Yugo M48 Buy Mauser 98K Buy K31 Break-in SEBR (once arrives) Break-in Mossberg 500 Doll up Mossberg 500 Look at XD45 Figure out why my POI keeps shifting on my Kobra with AK Stop buying guns "because they look like they'll be fun". Actually practice shooting beyond 100 yards. Get a dump pouch for the races. Sell pile of crap I didn't need and don't want anymore. Figure out what the hell is going on with my AR muzzle threads before the can gets here. Fix peel washers for AR Stop limp wristing my USP (I have to remember to actually hold onto it). Carry holster for the P2000SK C&R FFL Buy SBR upper (after paper work) Plan for "trunk gun" AR. Go blow off "blow off" ammo. |
Buy more ammo
Load all of the empty brass that I have Practice more Stop buying new guns until I finish building what I have. |
More ammo, and make sure my AR's are all deked out with necessities (Sites, slings, etc) with at least 10 mags per rifle.
Expand my collection of "historical" type rifles - Old mausers, SKS's, Moisin-Nagants's, etc. -K |
the last one is a BITCH....trust me.....I am finallyon the last leg!!! |
I'm confused? Are you saying you have more than 10 guns, and at least one MG? So you're in the selling market now? Or you want to make sure you buy no more than 10 guns, and not to buy any MGs? Just curious. |
Buy a lower for my dissipator upper
Buy a Glock to justify all the mags left over from the ones I sold Either get the XCR when if finally ships or use the money towards a AR carbine and alot of ammo. Get 2000 more rounds of 5.56 SHTF ammo Get 400 more rounds of 45ACP Get 1000 rounds of 38special Get 300 rounds of 357 mag Most importantly, not buy another handgun (Glock excluded) until I get better with the ones I already have. |
Buy the appropriate accessories for my plain-jain guns..........I'm not purchasing any guns until my current collection is hooked up.
Get a PS-90 and mags and then take out a loan for the ammo.
Sell the 17L and then get a Glock 19 with doctor optic red dot. But the final and real resolution is to actually get to go shooting more. A LOT MORE!!!!!!!!!! |
Kimber Warrior
Maybe another 1911 after the Warrior. One without a rail. A 14.5" M4 put together with rail, TG vert grip, and flashlight Another midlength upper Beretta Storm 9mm Another Sig, I'm thinking a P220 .45, and either a P225 or P228 in 9mm. An FAL if I can swing it Practice, practice, practice. |
Finish Building my HK53 SBR...
I've got the parts, I just need the $$$ ... |
1) Become a Democrat.
2) Work hard to ban all private ownership of firearms. 3) Dump all my firearms and ammunition into a lake. Oh, I can't ever remember ever having kept a New Years resolution. Guess I'll just stay conservative, keep my forearms and just send all my ammo down range. |
As bad as it sounds... stop buying black rifle. I need a new truck and I think my small collection rivals that of most college students. I need to stop buying rifles and live a little.....
ya got it backwards....you gotta stop living a little and buy more rifles! there'll be plenty of time to live life when yer dead...... |
Shoot more often.
Find more places to shoot at. I've got car projects that will be taking up most of my money. |
Fill out my 650 setup with the calibers I lack.
Optics for 458 upper. 338LM suppressor AAC M4-2000 Resist all other non-reloading purchases untill I get a Thompson. The Uzi temptation is the worst. |
I should do the same but trying to buy what I can while I can. |
Finally, and most important wganz ¶ |
Selling stuff |
yep. |
Sell a couple things I never ever use anyway, and the leftover parts to guns I don't have anymore.
Get something full auto |
Very cool, guys!
Well, the High Power and the .300 Win. mag. experimental should be done this week or next ( lord willin' and the creek don't rise ) so I have already lined up my next projects. I WAS going to build up a new mid length but I have decided to update my Colt Sporter 1(A1) Rifle and Sporter 2(A1) Carbine to fully fenced/proper front pushpin lowers. I think it's cheeper than building a new Pony/Hybrid mid length and will "up" me two full utility weapons. Essentially my A1 will be a FULL 100 percent A1 and my Carbine will be the same, essentially mimicing my LE6520 but in A1 style. I will work VERY hard at preserving the old slabside recievers for you guys so that someone can pick up nearly perfect slabside Colt lowers for retro projects. Next on line: I will be re-recievering my Springfield Armory M1A rifles with LRB forged recievers. My Scout will also be getting a chrome lined barrel in the process. look for this later in the year. I will also be putting the recievers up for grabs. The Scout will be a nice treat as it has a NEARLY BRAND NEW BARREL....only 250 rounds down range after I had Springfield replace the original barrel that had chatter marks in the neck of the chamber. Both guns are, of course, gorgeous.... This will bring all of my weapons fully up to date/spec technologically. During this time I'll be picking up LOTS of mags and accessories......no weekends for me this year!!! |
Beside the expected more guns, ammo, mags, and optics when I get home, I want to start handloading and shoot in a few competitions. And get rid of this damned flinch I've developed...
Get my pistol permit when i turn 21.
Buy the following guns: Springfield M1A another Ruger 10/22 A 9mm pistol not sure what yet SW 686 Ruger MKII Pistol |
