I am poor.  I am looking to buy a handgun for defense, and I have come across the TZ99 9mm pistol that looks like a SigP226.  It comes with 2-15 round mags and both Century Arms as well as Aim Surplus sell them.  They are going for about $249.  Anyone have an idea as to their quality, or heard anything about them?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any experience with them, but you might try asking over at the handguns forum.

It has been my experience with handguns that most of the time you get what you pay for.  Makerovs are one the few cheap handguns that I trust.

I bought one from AIM, and enjoy it thoroughly.  It is well made, and shoots very well.  It has some advantages over the sig in that it has ambidexterious controls, including the magaqine release, and a loaded chamber indicator. CDNN has magazines for $30.  Here's a review:

I also have one along with a sig p226 (just had to compare the two.)  It's a good gun, not near the quality of the p226.  It's also about 10% larger all around, which makes it just a tad big for my hands (the p226 fits perfectly).  It's almost as accurate as the p226, too.  I'd agree with the Cruffler review on most points, except he thinks it's better than a p226, which I can't say is true.  The trigger has a long pull even in single action and feels flimsy compared to the sig.  I'd buy it again for the price, though.

Thanks for all your help.  Based upon Cruffler's report, and the general lack of "Ahhh--don't buy it!" responses, I have gone and ordered one through a FFL.

Again, you guys are great.  Thanks!

crumabn,

It's really a piece of cake. Take your link and add   {url}  http://www.cruffler.com/review-July-01.html  {/url}  to it. Only replace the wavy brackets { & } with the appropriate the square brackets [ & ].

The instructions are in the Board Code link right above the reply Submit button. Lots of neat stuff there too.
