I yell at my TV every time I see a Palestinian running around with one of our M16s, does that count?

Sir, actually the Israelis made M16s for a while. In Isreal it's common to see IDF troops carrying them all the time so I bet when you see a PLO carrying an M16 the actual rifle was probably made in Israel. JMHO, 7zero1.

Actually quite a few were given to the Palestinian Police forces by Israel with U.S. blessings as part of an original Arafat deal for peace during the Clinton years. See how well that worked out. We supply Israel with their M16s.

I wonder if the Estonians will actually be using these M-14's as their primary weapon when they deploy, or if some other country will lend them 5.56 weapons in theater.

I thought the Estonians used the Galil? M-14 will do the job just fine provided the troops are well trained. The vast expanses in A-stan might favor a battle rifle.

Well, at least some were given to other nations to use, which is not bad.

My irk is that most were destroyed under Commisar Clinton's reign, which was simply wrong; wouldn't had it been easier to store them and convert them to M21s and used by our own troops? God knows those rifles could've been needed in Iraq and A-Stan.

Sir, that was probably due to the Israeli penchant to use Israeli made equipment, most of the IDF soldiers you see hitch hiking around the country are carrying something else, usually galil but an M16 is not uncommon. I've even seen quite a few M14s in the home guard units in various Kibutz's. I remember one time on a precipice overlooking the western wall in Jerusalem seeing two IDF armed with M14s.

Back on the original topic, didn't the Estonians, Latvians, or Lithuanians return a lot of our M14s? I seem to recall reading that they did some time back in the Clinton years.

The Estonians I saw here in Afghan were carrying AK-47's.

They were also wearing DCU's like our 3 color DCU's. It kinda screwed some people up to see what looked like an American foot patrol (from a distance) carrying AK's.

Anyone have info or more pics of the Estonian M-14 sniper rig?
