I was just wondering about this. Mosins were used in WWII, alot of the other surplus guns were used in wars, what about the SKS? Has it ever been the weapon of choice in a large scale conflict?

but hell the NVA/VC used anything they could get there hands on.

Their were alot more SKS's in Vietnam then AK's.

It wasn't just Vietnam. There were insurgencies and civil war throughout the area. Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam come to mind, plus exports to SW Asia to Arab client states and Iran.

I see them on MASH all the time. Were they widely used in Korea?

They were tested against the Nazis by a battalion of Russian soldiers during the drive to Berlin. The troops were reportedly very satisfied.
