I used some CCi standard velocity yesterday and it gummed up my mags and was a bitch to clean when I got home.

So what do you like? Preferably not lead.

Thanks

Anything hi-velocity made by remington works in my 10/22. I'v had more problems with winchester (duds, feeding problems).

I have allot better luck withe the standard velocity rounds vs the high velocity and subsonics. Maybe its just my barrel but thats what i get the best groups with and thats what im going for.

Edited to add: I thought all .22 lr rounds were lead. some have a copper or whatever wash over them but that rubs right off.

High-priced stuff -- Eley Tenex, Federal UM-1 (I still have some), RWS Match, Lapua Midas (L, I think).

I picked up some Mini Mag's and Federal Target. I'll give em' a try this weekend.

My main .22LR ammo is the CCI Mini-Mag. Works perfectly (in my 10/22), and is accurate enough.
Then there's the plinking ammo... Usually bulk ammo: Federal or Remington.
The problem with the bulk ammo is that it is very dirty. I usually have to clean after 100 rounds. The magazine gets seriously crudded up and won't function. And since I dont have the right hex key, I can't always clean it when I need to. Leaving me with only one good factory magazine.

Federal bulk packs

I like the CCI Blazer and Win. Wildcats for plinking. I try to avoid the Rem. Thunderbolts: lots o duds and sooty ammo.

i love the remington golden bullets from walmart in mississippi they are $9.47 or $10.13 something like that they keep changing the prices! in my ruger 10/22 these bullets arent that messy i have prob put bout 2k rds through it with out cleaning and it still shoots really good. i used to clean it bout ever 550 box or so but that got to tiresome so i just let it get really dirty. and it still holds pretty good groups at 40 yds. i have prob put 100k rds through it no lie!

The Minimags worked great, as did the federal target. However, I picked up some Eagle mags and every one of them failed to raise the rnd fully.

The hot lips that I have works great

I stocked up & bought about 2500-3000 rds awhile back when Bass Pro was running them for $5.98 for those 500+rd boxes. Plan on buying more if it ever goes back on sale again!

Off the topic (a little): What is the lowest velocity that you've been able to get to cycle....sorry for the side-track hijack.....

I'll have a FTE roughly on a 1:50 ratio in my Mark II.

The 550 brick from Wal-Mart.

Gone through 1000s of rounds.

I wanted better accuracy out of my 22's so I bought up a bunch of ammo and tried them out in my rifle Marlin and my pistol High Standard Victor.

CCI mini mags were the best by far for reliability on loading from mags and for accuracy. Remmingtons were cheap, but not-so-good.

Hope this helps

+1 on that.

Do you have a Walmart? Wallyworld can get them, but sometimes you have to beg, or flash cash. I'm still working on mine.
