I remember someone posted some good data on WC 872.  Today I got 100pcs M33 ball and 100pcs M8 API.  Both projectiles weigh ~650 grs.

Has anyone here shot this combination?  I have a 29" UL50.

thanks!

225g's is a pretty good starting point. You might get sooty necks and shoulders from a low charge.

I have used wc872 in my .50.  I dont know what your trying to do..but here is some of my data.
All shot out of 36 inch barrel

First load MIL cases CCI 35 and 690 Grain AP bullets

WC872 200 chronoed 2505 fps.  good load in my gun.  easy on the gun/shooter and will shoot good groups.

Max wc872 230           2875 fps.  Hot load.  good full powder load

next load Mil cases  CCI 35 and 750 AMAX bullet.

I have used eveything from 200 to 225 grains of WC872.  But the best load in my gun in the 225 for chronoed of 2800 fps.   That load in the most accurate in my rifle.

Oh and if you ever get some M17 tracers....everyone says that ball powder will not ligth them.  They are wrong....I have shot alot of tracers and even with a light load 200 grains of wc872 they all light.  So becarefull of tracers...they can start fires....dont ask.

Hope this helps some

Jason

THanks for the data.  I will be loading 50bmg soon and this gives me more data.   What press are you using, if you don't mind?

I'm looking buying one of the following soon:  the Hornady lock-n-load 50bmg set,  or the RCBS Ammomaster 50bmg set, or the Lee Classic in 50bmg set.    Seems like they all are workable.

For comparison, I have a 22" UL50 and use the same loads as listed above but the velocity is reduced accordingly -

200gr WC872 700gr AP - 1850fps
215gr WC872 700gr AP - 2080fps
220gr WC872 700gr AP - 2185fps
225gr WC872 700gr AP - 2239fps

For comparison-
Barrett M33 661gr Ball - 2600fps (load published: 233gr WC860)

I plan on working up loads with my last remaining H870 to see if I can get better velocity which I expect with 700gr AP to be around 2500fps in this barrel.
