I carried an M-16 in Viet Nam in 1969-70. What rifle is the closest copy of this rifle that is currently available and what price range can I expect?

The "lead ship" of our .308 caliber line!
AR - 10B

The AR - 10B brings back the flavor of the early ArmaLite AR - 10 and AR - 15 rifles, featuring original, early M16 tapered handguards, pistol grip and short buttstock, all finished in the original brown color.  Most noticeably, the unique charging handle, has been returned to production for the first time in almost 40 years!  The effect is striking!

Note:  Due to the "trigger style" charging handle inside the carry handle, it is not possible to mount a scope on this model.

satcong, I have an old AR-10 and have a mount.  It's possible.

Satcong, thanks for the reply but your rifle doesn't look like what I carried. It didn't have that type charging handle, the handguards were different, I don't remember the pistol grip having a finger groove and the furniture was black. You have a very nice rifle but it's not what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway.

I am doing a similar project, you and I are wanting an M16A1 copy.

Parts are here:
www.fulton-armory.com/
search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=m16
I used a post ban lower, its in A2 form but there are no postban A1 style lowers (there IS a difference)
Add a muzzle break from Wilson Combat and have the assembler grind off the bayo lug. Price:

$250 for complete lower
$250 or so for complete A1 upper or a bunch more if you get pieces and have it assembled
$125 for bolt/carrier/charge handle
trnasfer/tax/smithing $???
$50 or so for stock parts

I am having mine built by azexarms.com/

Raco....keep looking...I recently seen a bushmaster "pre" that was real close to the ar1 profile...in fact it was just like it in appearance....almost bought it but I am not a "pre-ban" junkie.....I believe this is as close as you would find without having to cut off your right arm for it......(no offense intended).........

I built this last spring, had to cut off the bayonet lug and put a CAV-COMP in place of the flash suppressor.
It's a Bushmaster, with a COLT M16A1 barrel.
