I'm thinking about trying out a VelTye Hugger Vest.

A size Medium MARCIRAS fits me right (  5'10  180 pounds),
I have a size L BAE Eclipse that fits ok over a Jacket, when
cinched down...

So, I was wondering if a Hugger in L should be my choice since
it's cut rather slim fitting and all...

any advice from those in the know?

Thanks!!

Scrolling through the Tactical Gear Section I swear your title was an Acronym for "Viking Tree Hugger"

Might be the Capt. and Coke reading though...

I have a lot of experience with the Vel Tye Hugger.  They have a new Generation now, but I am not sure how exactly it is improved over the previous Gens.  They are cut to full adjust, and they will make the vest to your specifications.  I currently use a Large CiRAS/Maritime and I use a Large Long Hugger.  It was custom, and you can check out Vel  Tye's website

http://www.veltye.com/inc/sdetail/1863

I suggest you add the optional D rings, so you can add the Lo Vis Mag carrier easily.

They are really a custom made proposition, so if it is for duty, they will make it to you spec.  If you are making one for non-pro use or collection purposes, it is best to order the NavSpecWar pattern and cust to your CIRAS size with standard Medium plate sizing.  That way if you do not care for it, you can turn it over in sale or trade for what you may want as they are collectable since Some SEALs use them and they are standtard with most Riverine Sailors woring the monitors and hard sise boats.

I hope it helps.  If you have questions, call Steve or Harvey at Vel Tye, they will make what you want.
