I've been running surplus 62grn 5.56 through my V93 for a while and I was wondering it that’s OK, considering the rifle is marked .223.  I figure since it’s a military design that it's not a problem, but I figured I would ask the experts.

Thanks,
JZ

You're fine.

.223 stamping aside, Vector claims the V53 is made "to exact HK-53 specs" which to me translates to 5.56 chamber.

Many, many thousands of .223 and 5.56mm rounds have been fired through Vector guns and I have yet to hear of any major chamber issues.

The caliber is fine.  The only thing I know of is that there is a different locking piece for the HK53 when using a 62 grain bullet as oppossed to the 55 grain.

You use the #15 for the 55 grain bullet and the #3 for the 62 grain.  I don't know if the same holds true for the 93 or not.

You can find the locking pieces here:  http://hkspecialist.net/carrier.htm  the #3 piece is the 16th item down.

The only problem you may have is stabilizing the 62gr projectile. The V93 is 1/12 twist barrel so 55gr is optimal.

Yup, chokes on every other round.  runs 100% with LC or UMC.

New V93's have a 1/7...older HK93's have 1/12 twist barrels.
