I have a PSA AR so I would just need a upper. I would sell my basic 10/22 for funds toward it. Or considering new stock, barrel, and scope on the 10/22

The two stocks  like are

or

Also would need a budget 16" bull Barrel

A S&W 15-22 is just a little more than the 10-22 upgrades and will be more reliable than  the AR upper IMHO. Just throwing that out.

AR....10/22 is fine but you need an AR first.

You can get a Boyd's tacticool stock, a Green Mountain barrel, and a decent budget optic for a bit less than a CMMG dedicated .22 upper.  In true Arfcom fashion, I have both, but I'd recommend modding the 10/22 over selling it.  Throw in a Volquartsen hammer kit ($40)and a synthetic buffer ($10) and you'll have a nice plinker.

Get a conversion bolt for $200 or less.

As long as you already have the 10/22 I would keep it, a year from now you will wish you had kept it.
Get the .22 upper for your AR. Then when you're ready build up the 10/22.

so many mods for the 10/22 i would keep it. I wanted a tac driver w/o spending a fortune and my 10/22 sucked anyway. I got a green mountain bull barrel, hogue om stock, vq extractor, polished bolt, buffer, new rail, sweet .22 bsa? scope, extdned mag catch and trigger job. YOu can go crazy $$if you want but its a .22 i didnt think all that was needed.

I have lots of 10/22's...they just sort of collected over the years. I have one from each decade starting with my 1966 model. I have owned and shot 10/22's for 37 years. I have LOTS of rounds through them. I have stock ones as well as many variations of modified ones. One is a target rifle I built that is just plain boring to shoot. No recoil, one hole in the paper, etc.

Then I have a .22 AR......and its a BLAST! Something in the feel of the rifle, the AR just shames the 10/22 for feel and fun. I have a couple of .22 AR's currently, and have owned about six of them over the past few years. So I have had plenty of time, and over 10,000 rounds of shooting to decide which I like best. They are both good but for fun...the AR is it.

Take a look at ATI's Chiappa railed 22 upper. it's so cheap you may actually get to keep your 10/22.

There is a reason they are so cheap. While some have had good luck with them, others have been less fortunate.
Shop around and you can find a deal on a CMMG....
