Anyone know anything about the ULTIMAK rail for a M1A that was in this month's AMerican Rifleman??

M-14 / M1A Forward Optic Mount
1913 (Picatinny) style rail
Ultra-low mounting allows co witnessing and an improved cheek weld - no need for a comb riser. Clamps directly to barrel for maximum stability and accuracy. Allows use of Intermediate Eye Relief (IER) "Scout" scope, pistol scopes, reflex sights, and holographic weapon sights.

Bump....

Ultimak = $200.00
Amega Ranges = $300.00
KAC  = 400.00

I want a rail too. I didn't know about the Ultimak.

Does anyone have any experience with the Amega Ranges rail?

I have an ultimak. It does co witness perfectly. I haven't noticed any change in zero shooting at 200 yards. It gets hot obviously, but not any hotter than the SA factory mount. Plus it replaces that crappy ass handguard with a hole. I put a KAC rail cover on it so I can grab it if I want to.

Photos here...

I have Ultimak mounts on a AK and a Mini30 and can't say enough about the quality, fit and alignment. Guess I'm gonna have to get this version now...

I thought the purpose of the National Match modifications was to have as few things touching the barrel as possible...how much accuracy will be compromised by having a rail like this installed?
