I just returned to the reloading bench after an absents from several years due to being overseas. Well, I was cleaning some brass and my tumbler went tits up after running a couple of hours. I am looking for a replacement and like everyone else out there right now money is tight so I was trying to find something reasonable. I don't do large quantities of brass...50-100 rifle or maybe a couple hundred handgun pieces. I found the Lyman 1200 for a really good price ($39). Does anyone have any feedback on it? I have also looked at the RCBS and Hornady ones for under $75.00 Cabelas has one for $49.
Thanks,
WW

I've had the Cabela's tumbler for awhile and it works well, has an on and off switch on cord.  I've only had it for a year so I can't attest to it's longevity, although after I got it I had to attend to a family emergency and it was left running with 500 cases of .223 for 3 days (they were REAL shiny), still runs.

I've used the Cabelas model for about 3 years, no issues so far.  I like the clear lid and on-off switch.

I have two Cabela's tumblers, they both have worked great for me. For the money they are hard to beat.

A little Nu Finish with one sheet of Boundy paper towel and your GTG.....

If you don't get the old tumbler working again, it could be time to go the ultrasonic  route, especially for a guy like you that is doing small quantities of brass.  I do not have one yet, but from the threads that I have seen on the site, they really get all the crud out of the inside of case and primer pockets.  Just a thought.

I have a Lyman Turbo 600 from like 1985 or something like that.  Still works great.  Just a little small for my liking.  I plan on buying the 1200 upgrade kit for mine.

I vote +1 for Lyman tumblers.

Still running the same Lyman 600 for over 20 years. So far so good.

I purchased a new Lyman 1200 tumbler a few months ago and it does a good job cleaning/polishing brass.

dryflash3,
I have had this vibrating type cleaner  for at least 20+ years if I can remember corectly. Its a "Vibratek High Performance Polisher/Cleaner". There isn't much to it. Basically just a door buzzer type transformer that may be bad.

Thanks guys for all the help. Guess I'll just get either the Cabela's model or that Lyman for $39.
I had made my own tumbler many years ago but someone wanted it more than me so I sold it. It was huge and when I was competition shooting I needed the capacity. I'll probably get back into reloading more again once I get settled in but right now it'll only be a couple hundred rounds at a time.
