Anyone have any experience with this?

GunThings has them for around $300, and I was wondering if they are worth it. It would be cool to keep the FAL with the sight that was designed for it.

also, does anyone have a picture of what the reticle looks like?

Got one, the reticle is clear ( kind of crystal like) and from the top instead of the bottom.  Its alright if you want OEM.  I was thinking of selling mine because an Aimpoint or EO-TECH is a better GP sight.

The FAL Files has extensive material on this sight unit, infantry trilux. Frances has them down. See the stickies in the R&D Forum: there is one that is the mother of all stickies.

IF you have the original base, it fits ONLY on L1A1. You can modify a SUIT dustcover by griding off the L1A1 tabs. The pointer hangs down, seems abbie-normal at first but is actually quite natural. You do not loose the target during the recoil follow-through.

I have an Israeli (spelling?) surplus unit. I like it. It's a cool collector piece to go with the rifle.

The reticle is an inverted crystal "spike" (it's conically drilled into the optical element). Put the tip of the spike on the target.

For that price you should also get the LED illuminator that replaces the dead tritium unit.

Complete manuals are available from Tapco.

I'd also buy a replacement rubber eye piece while you can.
