I've been searching all morning and can't find squat. Trying to figure out if I can yank off the flash suppressor and put on my .308 can. What thread pitch is a normal M1A under the flash suppressor?

Thanks,

You can't put a typical can on the threads. There is no shoulder for the can to index against. I don't recall the thread pitch, but I know that my 5/8x24 pitch flash hider and it slip right past the threads on the M14 barrel.

The only current options for the M14 type (short of a full custom set up) are Ops Inc and Smith Enterprise. The SEI Crazy Horse is a purpose built rifle (you can have yours modified) built to use a proprietory suppressor.

I've got a SWR Omega 30, which is 5/8x24. That's too bad there's no shoulder, this would be a nice rifle to pop it on!

IIRC 9/16 x 32 TPI. I think I have both a tap and die in this size. Charles.

Why not just build a thread adapter?
