I remember seeing HK 91,s for sale at B and B in North Hollywood, California for $480.00
HK 94,s went for $520.00.
SPAS 12 was $300.00
Mini Uzi was $400.00

1980,s man.

Lesson of the day- NEVER trade an HK91 for a wetsuit.

You don't even want to look at the NFA prices from the 1980's. Too bad I was just a kid in the 1980's

WEll, at least magazine prices have come down...

I remember paying $45 each for 20 round steel in the early 90's before any talk of a magazine ban, and thinking I was getting a steal.

Prices had risen a good bit by the end of the 80s. I believe it was 1988 or 9 that I went HK crazy and bought:

HK 93A3 for 850
HK 94A3 with the SD shroud and 3 mags I beilieve NIB 899.95
HK P7M8 for 799

I thought that was a good bit of money for those days but I was an active duty officer, had just made Captain and figured I was rich...

I sold the 94, and regretted it greatly. I still have the 93 and P7 and I recently bought one of the California DOJ 94s, so I am whole again...

I also remember those days of not so long ago -- before CA turned into the PRK. Like many here I was tooo poor at the time to afford those expensive ($850) hk-91/93s. My pos car at the time took all my spare $. How I want for the -way back machine- just for a few hrs.

can someone tell me why prices have skyrocketed?

i'm not talking NFA or imports that we'll never get again either, i'm talking ALL guns seem to be way more expensive.

$480 for a 91 then-----> $1400 for a PTR 91 now.

what the hell happened?

Well, I bought a brand new BMW 325 the same year, $16,500. How much does that car cost now?My wife bought a brand new Toyota Tercel hatchback, if I remember correctly it was 6500 dollars.

It is called inflation? Have you looked at all other prices lately? I hate inflation...

Yeah, having money in the 80's for a load of guns and NFA stuff would have been an extremely good investment. One of my friends in college told me that his Dad bought cases of Steyr Augs, all the HK9x series, AKs, ARs, anything you can pretty much think of... Even verified by a friend after a visit to his house...

Spooky

those ads and dealer price lists make baby Jesus and me cry

I just started getting into the gun scene early 80's and like and idiot had to go buy a Colt 1911 Govt model instead of a HK 94

PSG-1 was $5810.00 without taxes.

Damn, just damn.

I was so broke then, just a tad better now.

Danny

My story : I started out with nothing and still have most of it left.

No kidding! I was just thinking the same thing!

Yeah, it really drives home the fact that its best to concentrate on firearms that might not be here tommorrow. Why bother getting domestically produced handguns? They will be around for a long time. But guns like the civilian P90 coming out later this year/early next year....it might be your only chance to every buy one so you better not wait.

I distinctly remember an ad in Shotgun News around 1984-1985 that listed a bunch of police trade-in SMGs...

$500 MP5
$500 M16
$300 Uzi

The NFA stuff was cheaper than any of their semi-auto versions.

I was a po' college student. I now I wished I had starved myself or sold plasma for a few weeks to get one of those.
