I was on the phone with Dillon today ordering some part's for the S1050s. I asked about the trimmer motor's and was told they are out till August.  That's when the NEW motor's will come out.  I wonder if they will come out with a better motor or just more of the same just with part's we can't get. Wish they would come out with a brushless motor. I would gladly pay the higher price for that.

ETA  The part's I ordered shipped out today. Now that's CS !

Come on Dillon show your hand .

I'd be happy for a motor that didn't run so hot.

The noise I can live with, vacuum kinda drowns out the motor noise.

So does that mean they will have new old-stock in August or they will only be selling the new motors?

Im in the market for a trimmer and have been looking at the Dillon and the Giraud.  I was leaning towards the Dillon just because of being able to do it progressively with a separate tool head.  I will hold off until August to make my purchase.  Hopefully the price stays somewhat close to what it is now.

Wouldn't surprise me if they came out with a motor that would withstand the use of trimming 300 blackout (formed .223 brass that hasn't been cut down).

Brushless, cooler running, and has a 3 way cutter. That's what I would like to see. I would settle for just a the 3 way cutter that could be retrofit to my Dillon RT1200

Thats a post on the Dillon Forum by Dillon talking about the 1200B trimmer.  They say it was only designed to remove .010 of brass at a time. I wonder what type of trimmer they could release that would actually trim a .223 down to 300blk in one motion?

I just talked to Dillon and the changes are internal and minor manufacturing differences rather than a new design.  They told me that,

"The trimmer is intended for hobbyist use where it is used for a maximum of 45 minutes and then allowed to cool down for 15 minutes  rather than commercial use.  It was designed to trim a given caliber, not manufacture new calibers as commercial equipment may do.  The new model will be completely compatible with the existing trim dies and is actually the 5th version consisting of minor internal changes due to supplier changes, parts availability, etc., in the last 30 years.  It will be virtually indistinguishable from the existing model unless disassembled."

Ha, Ha !!

You think I might be hard to please ?

You should meet my customers sometime who call at 9pm and expect a fella to drop everything. The timer starts when phone is hung up and it's usually a bark on their end with a hang up.

I'm a pussy cat to work with compared to my customers.

It's the money I make working for those leather nosed asses that affords reloading equipment.

Yea, I might be a little hard to please. Just give me what you advertise something to be.

That's all.

Anyways, sounds like nothins changing from RT1200 to 1200B with maybe exception to bearings ?

eta,

Well if thats the case.  I'm going to move forward with my own motor.  The brushless unit will be dbl the cost.  But will be able to run continuously and is rated to 20,000 hours of operation.

The current motor will do it just fine you just really need a milled toolhead and the proper die

im sure it will be just fine.  i know all the Dillon equipment is pretty high quality but i would hate to go buy something and then a new version came out a week later.  for me i think of it like electronics, you can never really keep up with all the new stuff but you can get that 1 month or so of having the latest and greatest.
