I think it's Birch. The rifle came to me that way and I don't think the previous owner adeed it, so whatever Springfield was using in '86. I've got a tigerstripe E2 stock from Fred's I need to refinish. It will help calm it some on rock-n-roll.

Perhaps...first came the stainless Colt, then an Hbar, a Kimber, a Glock, an M4, and just recently an M1A scout.  http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d40/rwsduc/feversymptoms.jpg

Nice-looking collection there rus. The only thing that "bugs" me is that leaving all the mags off of the guns to photograph them is like chopping the heads off of pictures of supermodels. The mag is definitely part of the classic beautiful look of these weapons. An AR without a 20 or 30-round mag is kind of funky looking. But with it, it's badass. And though an M14 without mag has classic lines of beauty, with a 20-rounder popped in there it becomes badass. And I like my guns to be "badass". Put those mags back in there!

Yeah. I've got AR's, one Garand (Do you really need more than one? ) and a burning desire for an M14-clone that I've been trying to ignore for 25 yrs. But damn, they're still out of my price range. Maybe in 3 or 4 more years. I don't see it happening before then except by fluke/divine intervention.
