I've always wanted an O/U shotgun.  No particular reason for wanting it except because it looks cool.
I'll use it for shooting trap at the range and that would be about it.
I've looked at Brownings and Weatherby guns for long time but they are out of my budget.
Today I found a Mossy International Onyx Reserve for sale by a local guy for about $600.
Is this a good quality O/U shotgun?
Is it worth $600?
Would it be a good shotgun for shooting trap?

Let me know what you think.

Ask your question over at Shotgunworld.com and I think you'll get some good constructive responses.

Most will tell you you'd be better served by saving up a bit more cash and getting a used Beretta or Browning.  The Mossberg is made in Turkey and as such they can be very hit or miss.  A good O/U is a true joy and a bad one is a crime against humanity.  You have a MUCH higher probability of getting a good one if it's made in Italy, Belgium, or Japan.  Even a Spanish Lanber is likely to be better than the Mossberg.  Look at CDNN's current catalog.  They have some good prices on quality guns.

Good luck.

Not worth it.

As mentioned previously, save your pennies. For $600 a nice 1100 would do you well, but for an O/U, you'll want to upgrade....quickly.

I already have couple of 870 and 1100 in various configurations but want a O/U.
I guess I'll keep looking.

Not worth it at that price.  The Mossberg is a great over/under for field work, and I use mine for dove and quail hunting every year.

For sporting games you would be better off with something designed for clays.
