I had a squib with Talon 150gr 30/06 loose packed ball.
It must have been primer only because it pushed the bullet just into the bore, but the bullet base was covered with soot.
The pop was just slightly louder than a dry fire would have been. The primer stayed in the case.

Just wanted to warn the group.
