Just a heads up for anyone considering one.

I had a chance to handle a HK91 over the weekend that had one and was very impressed. I have held out on ordering them until I had a chance and will be installing them on a couple of my clones.

If my HK's didn't already have flappers on them, I'd be all over these.

Your HK or clone isn't even close to it's potential without
either the original flapper or one of these.

On the newer PTRs they require a little more modification
to work.
You have to dremmel out a small space for part of it to sit
where a support rod sits.
These support rods don't exist on original HKs ,JLD added them
for extra support.
If you pay someone to add the original flapper,these rods are cut out
completely.

There's also a tiny pocket where the falcrum of the device sits that
requires a build up.(only on PTRs)
I put a tiny piece of 0.040 steel shimstock in that pocket ,and used
Black Max compound from Locktite to make it permanent.

Black Max makes 2 pieces of steel like 1.
A chemical bond as stong as a weld.
Gunsmiths and manufacturers use it to put front sights on firearms when
drilling and tapping ,or welding,are impractical.
If you have a Mossberg or a Remington shotgun with a front sight bead,
it's probably held on with a drop of this stuff.

After a few mag changes ,you'll wonder how you shot without one !

+1 for the Tac Latch II.  I put this on my PTR 91 a couple of weeks ago.  Have been to the range one time since.  What a difference.  Mag changes are fast and motion is very natural.  My PTR is in the early part of the A1000 serial number series.  I did not have to make the modifications that Cobrasks refers to.  My receiver was almost exactly as a HK.  After I "lost" the little single loop wire spring attached to the Tac Latch, it fit and functioned perfectly.

I went to the Taclatch site and saw this:

FYI: You must have a cut-out in front of the trigger guard like on the real HK's for this product to install at all. JLD Enterprises's PTR91 presently does not have this cutout and in a recent discussion with them they mentioned that they cannot remove this sheetmetal tab due to BATF ruling. According to them it was illegal to remove. Buyers of the Tac-Latch who perform this act of modification are at their own risk and JB Mfg is NOT responsible for any infractions of the law.

It seems odd that removing a little bit of metal would be illegal.

Sounds like it could be BATF-inspired paranoia.

Where's a good place to buy?  I might want one for my HK91.

I guess to some, but the ATF is pretty clear on those conversions and these do not interfere with it.

+1 for the Tac Latch.  I've owned two and are well worth the money.

If you decide to remove the extra support rod in the PTR ,just make
sure not to open a hole in the right side of the receiver where
it connects.
You don't have to remove it for the Tac Latch anyway,just file
a little off it's height  .

Also ,this shelf that's welded onto the bottom ,
DO NOT remove it with pliers.

Leave it there ,but you can trim it to fit with a file.
I used a dremmel for mine.

Cutting the square area out of this shelf for the flapper is
part of it's installation anyway.

I really didn't want to refinish part of my PTR ,so I gave these a try.

Honestly,I like the Tac Latch better than the real HK flapper.
The Tac Latch works left to right instead of front to back,
and the Tac Latch paddle is much larger.
For me ,it just feels  more natural.

Agreed. I am sitting here playing with the paddle on my little k and just dont like it!
