Hot Dog, that is some nice equipment and some super nice photography.

My friends have a Ruger Mini-30 and a SIG 556R, both in 7.62X39mm, hog guns that could use the L-3 auto-gated PVS-14.

Not long until Christmas either.....

Question.

http://tnvc.com/shop/tnvpvs-14-gen3-commercial-spec/
TNV/PVS-14 Gen3 Commercial Spec
Gen3 Auto-gated Night Vision Monocular
$2,515.00 — $2,999.00

But when I try to purchase I have to pick an option.
Basic Kit $2,695.00
Weapon Kit $2,825.00
Full Kit $2,999.00

Can you not order one without a kit for the $2,515.00? If not then why state $2,515.00 — $2,999.00.
Not complaining I just don't need all the extra stuff as I am just wanting to get this as a spare for the one ITT I have right now.$180.00 saved is always good!

Thanks

Select black on the first drop down list, basic kit on the second list. It'll be $2515

Ok, so this awesome deal has got me to finally pick up a pvs-14. As some one who will only shoot out to ranges of 200yds with these what will be the best tube option to go with (is that the correct term?)? I am willing to drop the extra coin if the difference noticeably affects clarity.

This....Just re-checked our web site. All seems to be in order. If not, please feel free to call in your order. Thank you.

Vic

Sorry Vic

Let's just say I'm a dumbass! I was on my iPhone and clicked on all the options for the color and forgot to go back to black. Just a dumbass!

My.question is how these would rate up against the "Night Enforcer" line? I have been saving up for one of the night enforcer models, but these are significantly more affordable. For the average first timer to NV, would there be any noticeable differences? Clarity? Durability? Etc? I only ask because with this announcement, I have been second guessing and having a problem justifying the need to pay the extra cost for what seems like (to the untrained eye) another quality NV goggle.

Thanks for the help.

Maybe I am missing where the specification is listed, The commercial spec tubes - are they autogated?

I'd be all over one of these if it was legal to hunt at night in CA

The clarity is not going to be an issue. It has more to do with the tube's ability to identify at various ranges. NV is not magic. Even the latest/greatest tubes are still image intensifiers, so they are dependent on the amount of ambient light they can gather to produce an image. The more light they can gather, the better the image. Today's tubes can do a whole lot more with a whole lot less light, but you will still notice a lesser image on nights with less light (heavy cloud cover, no moon, overcast, etc). When the moon cycles two weeks later, the full moon will make things really bright. But again, the goggle will still perform very well with less light.

The other thing to consider is the light-gathering capability. The objective lens gathers the light for the tube to amplify. Keep in mind that the PVS-14 is a goggle, designed primarily for head-mounted use for Warfighters. It is small and lightweight to increase comfort over long periods of wear. The objective lens only needs to be big enough to draw enough light for the user to see out to normal distances. The average person cannot identify people or animals (in a shoot/no-shoot capacity) further than 100 yards without magnification. Sure, you can see people and animals out past that distance, but the ability to distinguish an armed good guy from an armed bad guy or a coyote from the neighbor's dog, is somewhat diminished. The same is true for goggles.

On a night with good ambient light, the PVS-14 with the latest tubes (such as the ones offered here), will allow you to detect out past 800 yards. But, your ability to fully identify shoot/no-shoot targets will be about 100-115 yards.

What about those of us with less than average vision? Its been almost 10 years since my LASIK and I'm no longer 20/20. I use a TA11H-G (3.5x) on my AR carbine, but plan to get a T-1 for my 300 BLK SBR.

Does less-than-perfect vision make any difference in choosing a model? My original plan was to get a TNVC-assembled unit.

Considering they are "commercial" are these exportable provided we go through the necessary channels and State Department export process?
