I am getting into the suppressor market and I am eyeing the Surefire FA556-212 for my 10.5in sbr. I am looking for the quick detach, low poi shift, and best sound reduction.
Will you lists the pros and cons of this suppressor. I can get one for $1100.

How loud is it compared to a .22lr? and can you shoot it without ear pro?

how loud is it compared to a 22lr? suppressed, unsuppressed, subsonics?

as far as shooting without ear-pro, that's a personal thing. while many 223 cans are rated as "hearing safe", i have never run any 223 can on any semi-auto that didn't ring my ears. so i always use ear pro...

Bryan, please explain. I have been wanting a 215 since I first saw it.

I have the 556K, predecessor to the 212. The 212 had some small changes made so it would function better on the HK416. The 416 is suppressor finicky from what I hear.

My can is great and I love it. Personally I think it sounds better then the AAC M4-2000 (similar prices). However if your just looking at cost to performance ratio take a look at the M4-1000. I think the KAC suppressor sounds a little better to the naked ear, but I know it meters higher.

The Surefire can and mount is designed to minimize POI shift. If you have a well threaded barrel you will have negligible POI shift. If your barrel is not threaded well POI shift will be repeatable.

One pro is what you can use the 68k can on the 556k/212 mounts. It is not recommended as the cans are designed to index on 3 points, and using the 6.8 can it will only index on 2 points.
Another pro is that you can use the 762k can on the 556k/212 mounts. Once again, not recommended, but possible.

How does the Surefire FA556-212 on 10.5in shooting m855 compare to .22lr?

IMHO

On a 20 inch AR, quieter then a .22
16 in. Somewhat comparable.
10.5 Louder

Of course I think comparing it to a .22 is not really a good comparison. If you can find someone near you that has one and listen to it in person. Try to listen to several cans before you buy one.

I don't know anyone in my area that has a suppressor. I figured I would start doing my research.
