I have a Remington 870 Express with a factory two-shot extension.  This is an older Express model, so the magazine tube doesn't have the detents.  I've also added a lime-green Scattergun Technologies plastic follower.

I'm having trouble with round #5 not loading in the tube.  Sometimes it sticks, hangs, or won't go in at all.  This happens at what appears to be the location where the follower crosses over from the original magazine tube to the threaded extension.

Is this the curse of a two-piece extension, or is there something I can do to eliminate the problem?

a dowel with some 400 grit sandpaper taped around it should do the trick...

and make sure your extension tube is screwed all the way into the cap so there is no gap between the factory tube and the extension.

IIRC the correct installation procedure is to screw the cap on first, then install the spring and extension piece.

Thanks guys.  I wanted to make sure there wasn't some new follower or something that I needed to buy.

I was installing the extension incorrectly, so I fixed that problem.  I also polished the inside of the extension tube near the barrel nut.  Everything is feeding very smoothly now.
