Picked my son up a new shotgun..manual says nothing about shooting steel shot. Target loads are steel, buckshot I picked up is lead. Is this thing going to go Glock with the steel? It has an improved cylinder choke.Thanks.

Most shotgun/chokes made in the last 25 years should be GTG for steel shot, but check on the manufacturer website.
Older than 25 years I would avoid it, some older guns have been damaged from the extended use of steel shot.  Most of the damage occurs on guns with a full choke designed for lead shot.
Improved cylinder made in the last 25 years?  I'd have no hesitation to shoot steel from it.
Info from Browning, as an example:  http://www.browning.com/customerservice/qna/detail.asp?id=128
What is the make and model?

You bought target loads that are steel.
Most steelshot is for waterfowl.
The cost is a bit more, then most target loads, which are lead.
Some of the steelshot is a bit faster.
If I could afford it, I would use it for some trap games I play!
Does your state allow you to target shoot with lead shot?
You should have no problem. Eather way with a NEW shotgun!
Hope you and your son have fun!

I looked on the H&R website, the makers of your shotgun, and there was nothing about steel shot.

But I did find this info, I suggest you call them if you want the peace of mind:

Almost any firearm made in the last 20-25yrs is made to use steel shot. You should be fine.

Sorry for the late response, contacted the manufacturer. Evidently, this shotgun is imported from China

Will shoot steel shot though. Thanks to all.
