I was at an antique shop today and saw a Spencer Carbine for $2400 is that a deal or a steal?

Sounds a bit high.  I don't have my books to refer to, but I would expect mid 1000's.  But, of course, condition, special features, etc. come into play and can make that vary by quite a bit.

BTW, If you want a Spencer a little cheaper or to shoot, they are now offering reproductions, I think through Cabalas'.
