I have the opportunity to buy a preban colt for $1200 out the door.  At least I think its a preban green label.  The serial # is SP249xxx.  It has A2 sights, 20 in barrel, no mag fence, no bloc.  It says Colt Sporter.  It looks to be in pretty good shape but its definately seen some use.  The brass deflector has been painted over (huumph) and the lower may have been.  The only real ding is near the pin that holds the lever that releases the bolt carrier.  Looks like someone missed with the punch.  There is no box or accessoried except a used colt 20 rounder.

Good deal or no?  I'm pretty sure this has the mil spec fire control pins but I'm not sure. I also have no way of knowing if the internals are colt or not. Any advice is appreciated.

Yes it is a preban, but that is a little pricey for the rifle in the shape you described. But thats just my opinion.

It is a green label and the fire control pins are milspec.  For the condition you described the price may be about $100 too much.  The lowers alone go for $900-$1000 in 90%-98% condition.  I hope this helps.
