It looks simple but I have a couple questions.

1 The dovetail will not freely slide into the reciever dovetail (springfield armory). Should I just try to file down the scope mount dovetail until it slides freely???

2 Do I really need to remove the rear sight?? I doesnt seem nescessary.

Thanks in advance for the help.

1) My $0.02, have a M14 gunsmith take a look at this.

2) If you're installing a Smith Enterprise, Inc. M14 scope mount on a Springfield Armory, Inc. M1A,  I don't see a need to remove the rear sight assembly.

Insert from right (op rod side) to left. Both the dove tail and adapter have a slight taper.

I tried it, the dovetail is just a bit to big to slide in. I will contact Smith Enterprises. Thanks
