Most of my association with firearms has been with handguns and rifles. I have just begun to see the versatility of a good tactical shotgun.

I have only fired Buckshot out of the Super 90. Is it OK to shoot Foster slugs thru the IC choke? (The shotgun came with IC, Mod, and Full.) What range shoud I zero the ghost ring sights at?

Thanks for the help......

If by foster you are referring to rifled, yes they are fine.  I only use my IC in mine.

IC is what you should be using with a Foster slug anyway, so it's definitely ok.  Some say they have good success with them in modified, and even full choke barrels. Hasn't been my experience. As for range what is your intended purpose for the shotgun? Mine are zeroed for 50 yards, as 15-75 yards are the typical shots I get in Florida's woods.

I forgot your second question.

Most people I know zero between 50 and 100.  Depending upon your environment.

Thanks for the replies. I looked around and the barrel for this weapon is freakishly expensive. Diddnt want to damage it!

Its a Tactical Shotgun with a magazine extension, I will not be hunting with it unless the world falls apart. I have rifles and other shotguns for hunting.

I am looking to make it as flexible as possible. Ill try zeroing at 100 first. I know that slugs are effectively limited to within 100 yards.

Most tac shotguns are sighted to 50 yards.  I have run a modified choke with slugs with good results but I would suggest just using the improved choke system if you can.  The main reason that I ran a modified choke with slugs is because the gun had a more consistent patteren with buckshot and it still shot slugs well giving me the best of both worlds without changing out the choke.

The shotgun patterns extremely well with Winchester X12XCOB5 12 pellet OO, Federal LE 127 9 pellet OO, and fairly well with Wichester XB 121 #1 and the IC choke tube. The Winchester OO load can keep the majority of its pellets on a silhouette target out to about 40 yards in this shotgun.

Hopefully the slugs will show acceptable accuracy without changing it. I have built up a small stash of Winchester X12RS15VP 15 packs and FederalF127 RSX 10 packs.

Thinking it over, Ill shoot groups at 50 and 100 with both, then zero with and stock up on the load that groups best.
