I have a pre ban NM. I've some non-slotted ones in used condition, but found some slotted in NIW condition. I'm leaning away from slotted as it will let dirt in. I want to minimze removing the rifle from the action. Anyone know of NIW non-slotted handgyards w/clip? How are Fulton Armory's?

The Fulton Armory M14 hand guards are more rugged than the USGI solid hand guards. I recommend them for semi-automatic only M14 rifles. The slotted/ventilated hand guard is a nice-to-have for the M14A1 in automatic fire. The solid fiberglass hand guard will stand up to rougher handling.

I read that they'll create more of a mirage from the heat in your sight picture. The slotted ones that is.

The slotted ones will allow mirage more readily, yes. Of course, the amount of mirage can be minimized with fire discipline.
