Hello all,

I am going back through my collection and trying to fill the gaps with suppressors. Next up is a dedicated 9mm can. Right now I have it narrowed down between a Silencerco Octane HD and a AAC TiRant. Both looks like great cans and I am having a hard time deciding. With price out of the issue, what would be your choice when it comes to a dedicated 9 mm can? I already have a Silencerco Osprey .45 can and as much as I like the unique design, I wanted something different, so thats why I am not getting the Osprey 9mm as well.

Thanks in advance
Jason

Look at Mac's video on 9mm suppressors and you'll see that the TiRant comes out ahead on absolute dB reduction.

However the Octane comes out ahead with a full stainless baffle stack and a design that encapsulates fouling. Also the Octane pistons are compatible across calibers (If you ever get an Octane 45, you can use your Octane 9 pistons with it).

That being said, the TiRant 9 has been discontinued - with the fire sales that went on last year and earlier this year, it's hard to justify paying $600+ for something that was available for $350 and with a $200 store credit last year.

I bought the Osprey first then the Tirant when it went on sale.  Next purchase will be the Octane due to the baffles,

I bought a tirant due to them being 349 with the 200 rebate, which got me the other piston I needed and a G2S trigger for about $30. It is also quieter and lighter. That said, the Octane is a better design and, price being equal, what I would have chosen.

TiRant is quieter, lighter, and has less blowback, but you will have a hard time finding a 9mm version because AAC foolishly stopped making them.

Just a heads up, I was having the same dilemma. I plan on going with a Griffin Revolution 45 and Primary Arms has TiRant 9mm for $600

I grabbed a TiRant 9 and TiRant 45 while I could. Can always get a Octane or Illusion (if it turns out not to be inferior) later on.

I have both and for a dedicated 9mm can I'd choose the Tirant unless youre shooting lead. It's easy to disassemble and you really don't need to clean the baffles often (or ever really, just wipe them down). Its quieter and lighter than the Octane too. I got in on the $350 + $200rebate deal...I don't know if that is likely to happen again though.

I run a TiRant on pistols and the Octane on SBRs...

ETA: If I was buying today, I'd go for the Griffin Rev...

I have the TiRant 9 and Octane 45 and like them both.

Didn't know the TiRant was being blown out for $350 not long ago. It makes it hard to pay over $600 for one now. I originally had my mind made up on a Octane and TiRant got thrown in the mix after I saw MAC's video the other day.

I picked up two of those.  Deal was just too good to pass up.

OP, I've got the above mentioned TiRANT 9's, a pair of Octane 45's, and an Osprey 45.  For just 9mm on a pistol and not using lead, the TiRANT is where it's at.  For sound, the Osprey is next, followed by the Octane.  If you want to shoot lead the Octane jumps out in front.

I have yet to shoot anything other than a TiRANT on my 9mm SBR's as they are both three-lug equipped.  I will be getting a three lug adapter for the Octane's and will compare.

Any chance anyone knows where to get a TiRant for a decent deal like that now? Everywhere I see them, they are $600+. If I could find one for a good deal, I would defiantly get one. If they are priced the same at the Octane, I will probably go that route.

Thanks
Jason

I grabbed a Tirant 9 and 45 during the deals run back in Nov from silencershop for ~ $350 each with a theoretical at the time.... but now turning out to be a  worthless $200 AAC merchandise credit.

Really happy with both of them so far.   Added the Tirant 9 to my existing Trident and Evo 9mm pistol cans and the Tirant 45 was my first 45 can.

No regrets on either purchase even with the rebate turning out to be bunk.
