I ordered a Sighmark Reflex red dot site a couple days ago.  I also got a G&G style low-profile mount from my local airsoft shop.  It's a high quality, aluminum, weaver sytle sight base specific to the MP5.  It has steel claws and fit and finish is perfect.
$17.00
The sight came from OpticsPlanet, $39.00.  Nice quality piece, packaged nice, with a lense cover and cleaning cloth.  Allen wrench for adjustments included.

The sight base mounted on the gun nice  and secure.  The sight slid right onto the base and one of the tension bolts for the clamp passes through the grooves on the base and acts as a scope-stop.

Clear lense and 4 reticles.
Zeroed in with about 10 shots, dead on target out to 60 yards and  can still hit a 6 in. target out to 85 yards even though the dot is the same size as targe at that range.
Aiming with both eyes open is cool,  because the sight pretty much disappears and all you see is the reticle in both eyes, it's  like being the Terminator or something.
Held zero well. So far paralax free, I can move my eye or head position and the dot stays on target

Cool Gee-Whiz factor, but the std. iron peep sites are more fun to me.  Worth $40.00 no doubt.  Looks like a high dollar future weapon and everyone want's to check it out.

They are junk and I've heard they don't hold up but...

One came with my Sig 556 Holo (with a different brand name, "Sig") but it's exactly the same AND the little POS is pretty damn good.

What gives? Am I wasting $$$ on Aimpoints and Eotechs???

I have the same sight and it works just fine. So to say they are crap I don't agree, but I can say they are worth what you pay for them.

Only gripe with it is you have to put your eye in the same spot every time or the dot will run away from where your bullets go as you move your head...

Poor tweety.....

I have the same sight off of EBay from Hong Kong. $28 + shpping, and I had it in about a week. Definite cool factor but I've yet to be able to test it cause of the weather.

Hey $40 is a bad steak dinner for you and the wife at Outback...go for it.

I also bought a small <3" long Quick Detach mount for $17 w free shipping that I mount it to so I can change from this sight to a scope with the flick of a lever: it only raises the line of sight about half an inch.

i have the sightmark as well.  honestly, it's fun, it works great, i've had it through many temp changes (indoor / outdoor in new england) and it still holds zero.

you can't beat the fun factor for the money.

i agree with VIVr that the iron sights are more challenging/fun (and more accurate actually), but the ability to acquire the target quick is what the red dot is for.   big thumbs up.

It's not as fragile as it may look to you.

I was thinking of getting the laser/dot combo http://www.opticsplanet.net/yukon-sightmark-reflex-sight-sm13002.html for the PK I ordered.

I also have the same sight on my PK .... over 2500 round and still holding zero. I have a friend who owns an EOTECH and he is wondering why he spend 400 dollars!!!

Accually..it is.

I had one on an M4gery.  It was a GOOD range sight. It held zero over 2000 rds...before the "accident".

When friends and I go to the outdoor ranges, we train with our weapons.  We set up courses to run and watch, grade and learn.  The set up was simple.

1-Down two targets from a standing position 100 meters away.
2-Move to 75 meters using an old frig as cover,  Down target three from low cover.
3-blah blah blah till you get to targets 6 & 7, use a tree as high cover to down those, 25 meters away.....

I slammed the sight into the tree and it broke.....

If you could make an armored hood like an EOTech has..the sight would be great for a combat SHTF long term weapon sight.

I have been thinking about this and its do-able.

Keep in mind it is an air soft sight, slamming into a tree during a somersault is not its intended use.

An EOTech has far more surface to smash into a tree than these little sights...why dont you try that with a Doctor optic and see how well it does?

I had one of these (made by Hakko) for about 2 years. Great little sights for non-serious plinking/range-time. Mine broke when the rifle fell over, shattered the glass & bent the "hood" (if you can call it that.) I was disappointed with myself for letting it fall over, but I completely believe an Eotech or Aimpoint would've survived the fall, no problem.

The other thing is this: If you have opportunity to check out several manufacturers of these optics side by side, you will notice a quality difference, mostly in the reticle clarity and quality of glass (I've seen a low quality model that looks exactly like this one where the glass would actually distort the reticule as you moved your head around). I was surprised, as I thought they were all the same, but after looking through 6 or more different makes of this same design, there was a noticeable difference.

I have no idea where the Sightmark fits in, quality-wise, but definitely don't assume they are all the same, just because they look the same.

+1 They arent even worth the 40bucks.  Cheap piece of shit that doesnt hold zero on a 22lr and sucks in any bright light conditions.

We must be talking about a different product then.   What I have is solid, well finished, holds zero on the gun, and when removed/replaced.   I can put a bullet into a 7/8 in. circle repeatedly with GSG at 35 yards, (using those "shoot-and-see" shot cover-dots as targets)   It is a blast for plinking, range and even squirrel hunting.
Better, I can repeatedly put shots into the inner rings of a 6 in. target at 85 yards using the same reticle with no holdover.  No magnification whatsoever.  My son's Savage MKII bolt with 9X scope struggels to do that and requires holdover.  I

It is an amazing site, for a great price.   I think there are different versions of sight at different quality levels.  This one is marketed as a rifle sight, not an airsoft.
You can barely see these at 35 yds,  the inner stuff is out 60-70 yds.  Either I got the best GSG in the country, or it and this site are a great product.   And mine has auto-brightness control, that I've covered with tape because it's too bright.

it's a fragile unit, but it will suffice for this application

Anyone ever use one in the rain?

Haha did he complain because a $50 dollar red dot sight broke when he smashed it into a tree?
