I'd like to stick with 5.56, what is available?

Ruger Mini-14

Keltec SU-16
Century C93

I would suggest sticking with an AR instead of any of those though

Beretta ARX 100 is $999 right now.  So cool.  But again I think FPNI. I grew up with the Mini-14 always having horrible accuracy but since the 2.0 version with the CHF barrels they are supposed to be pretty darn awesome.  I'm on the 10 rifles for Trump regiment and none of them will be ARs. There are so many of them now we have a population problem.

C93 would be a good choice, just go into it knowing that it might take a trip back to the vendor or swapping a part to get it functioning perfectly.

My C93 took a recoil spring assembly to get it working right. The one they used was surplus and worn out. One $40 part later and I have a freakin' great rifle for not much money.

C93 is a horrible choice if you are trying to save money.

Any HK93 is a money pit for mags and accessories..

Hi,

Do you recall offhand any vendors you've seen recently selling them for around $1000? That is a great price.

I got my HK 40 rounders for about $40 a pop, and the promag ones are $15ish and actually work well.

Check out the mini-14 before you buy one.  The magazines are a bitch to put in and take out, not like an AR.  There is an extended magazine release out there somewhere but hasn't hit the general market yet.

I have a vector 93 and in 223 the roller action is super smooth and low recoil love it.
Also agree on the Daewoos love them more than ar15
I have a ORF R4 clone which is good and low recoil. Not has heavy as everyone thinks. It balances well.

OK where are you guys getting Beretta are for less $1000. I want one. Prefer fde though.
Lowest is 1150 at botach

Those days are over.

Now it's the ProMags (which might be great for range mags) , $35 MKE mags which are military grade, but if they are the same plastic as G36 mags are not a long term solution, and finally expensive $80 HK mags.

While excellent guns, they are not 223

999 for an arx100 would be a deal.

Mini14's are too inaccurate to be fun imo

Vepr pioneer in 223 would be cool

Wolf Taiwanese t91 upper on an AR lower maybe?

FN FNAR?

I'd do the arx100, or the pioneer if you want something with a traditional style stock like a mini 14, but is way better than a mini14. Yes it is basically an ak action, but it's not much like shooting an ak.

I just bought one two weeks ago for that price. I just looked at their website a few minutes ago and they've jacked the price over $1200.00 now.

There is a 5.56 version that has an adapter that takes AR magazines.  Sad part is it doesn't sell for under $1k, and are hard to find.  The only place I seen them in a good quantity was on the TV series Strike Back.
