Here's the deal...I have a SPAS 12 that I bought a few years back.  It is one with the newer safety and the fixed stock.  I have never even fired it.  Nor do I foresee ever really using it.

I have a Mossberg 590 as my primary shotgun.

Now, do I sell it or hold on to it?  Is it ever going to be worth anything?  If I do sell it, any idea what they are going for?

What say you?

Sell that puppy they usually go for 950 to 1100 with the crossbolt safety and the fixed stock. Thats just money in the bank for ammo my man. You got one of the best shotguns there are in the 590 already.

Hold it. If you're not in a hurry. It will continue to increase in value.

If you don't need the money right now I would hold the gun and let it continue to appreciate.

I doubt that it is going to appreciate much more. Prices on them have been stagnant for quite a few years now. If the sporting purposes clause is ever reversed, it'll lose value big time. I sold both of the SPAS-12 shotguns that I had, and don't regret it for a minute.

Keep it.  I doubt that the sporting clause will be repealed any time soon.  You have a gun that can't be imported any more, and as more and more of them get rendered unusable then your's will become more valuable.  However it may not appriciate any more.  The risk is yours, but I'd hedge my bets on it's value going up, and not down.

Tough call. Personally, I don't like shooting them that much because they're so heavy and complicated. On the other hand, they are cool as hell. A guy I know bought one of the folders with the arm hook last year in a pawn shop for $500. That was a freakin steal!

Maybe we need to only count votes of people who have either owned one or still do.

I've had two and vote to sell. Do any of the guys saying, "Keep it." have one?

So I shouldn't sell it and then buy a boat, huh?

I had a SPAS 12 awhile back about three years actually. I just did'nt like the overall balance of the gun, and the fact it needed a new recoil buffer that I could'nt find at the time. I now have a Benelli M1 S90 Tactical IMHO I think that it is a far superior weapon and design than the Franchi. The balance and speed are what really sold me on the Benelli they truly are the best autoloading shotguns on the market today IMO.

Well, it appears that three people in this thread have owned a SPAS-12 in the past and voted for you to sell.

No you won't. Take it to the next gunshow and dump it. Then go buy yourself a Benelli M-3 Super 90. You will be gald you did.

Keep it. Everyone that has ever sold a gun has at some later point wished they had not have sold it.

Edited to add: Especially so if it had been a gun they couldn't readily replace.

Are Spas-12's really fetching that kind of money these days?

SPAS12s are rare finds, I saw one with the folding stock go for $1700 at a gunshow and a fixed stock for $1200; I suggest you keep it for a while, let it increase in value, then sell it for a good $1800, maybe $2000.

I own a 590A1 and is the best pump gun you can own; of course, if I had the money, then a M3 Super 90 would be a good choice too, but I can't complain.
