I'm looking for a new scope for my 15-year-old Ruger 77/22. This rifle is special. It will shoot just over a half inch five-shot groups at 50 yards with CCI Stingers. I only use Stingers! The scope I have is an old Bushnell Sharpshooter 3-9 that is really dark at highest power.
Are the .22 specific scopes with the AO worth it, or is getting a good quality "real rifle" scope a better deal? I like to sight dead on for 50 yards. Stingers are about 4 inches low at 100 yards. Other ammo shoots a lot lower at that range.
Anyone see new Simmons Master Series that are made by Meade? I'm leaning toward a Burris because I want something made in the US. Someday this will be grandpa's rifle, so I want good quality for about $200 to $250.
Use will be for rabbit and other small game hunting. It is legal to snipe pheasants with a .22 here in Iowa as long as they are not on a road.
