Think about a 550 or 650, have a SDB already.
What does the strong mount  do for you?
Looking at the photos in Blue Press it just seam to raise the
press.
If you have a strong mount would you buy one again?

they raise the press but they also allow the use of the bullet tray, tool set, plus it's Dillon and uber cool

It also distributes the forces over a bigger area, putting less stress on any one part of your press. I have a 550 with a strong mount that I used with 1/4" bolts and wide washers under the top of the bench to distribute force.

Personally, I'm trying to plan a home made strong mount so I don't have to pay Dillon $50 for theirs.

I made my own mount for SDB because I couldn't open the door all the way on the cabinet under the bench without one.   I bought the Dillon mount for my 650 though.

No need to buy one, just make your own!

Like you I tried to save money and justify not buying one.  Before I set up the press I bought one locally.  It is worth it, don't second guess getting one.

IMO the only reason to have a Strong Mount is to use the bullet try and/or if you like to stand when reloading.

It put's the press too hight up, unless your workbench is really short.

Personally I built my work bench so my press would sit at the correct height when sitting infront of the press to operate comfortably.

I do wish Dillon had designed the press to work with the bullet tray with out having to buy/have the strong mount though!

Thought, I guess that wont matter once my Mr. Bullet Feeder comes in!

Personally I don't use the strong mounts as I also sit to reload and they would put my presses way too high.  As for bullet trays, I use these:

I have a strong mount on one of my 550B's because the short steel desk it's mounted on would be unuseable without it. My other 550B is mounted on a bench I built which is close to 41" high. Belly button height works fine for mounting a press if you stand when reloading. How you get there is up to you.

I have a strongmount mounted at desk height as that's what my 'bench' started life as.  It works well with a chair, however, I prefer a stool as I like the ease with which one can move around with one vs a chair.  I can also reload standing up.  The strong mount also lets you mount your home made bullet bin and home made tool brackets too.
