Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Scabbard..Makeshift or the Real Thing?

i've located 2 cordura shotgun scabbards that are similar in design, but they expensive and appear to have features that are unnecessary such as molle straps, rain flap, etc...i intend to strap an 870 with pistol grip to my backpack...leather doesn't seem appropriate and retention straps aren't needed...an arrow quiver might work, but i haven't found one the proper length/diameter...have you found a makeshift scabbard for this application?

I was poking around a gun shop a few weeks and pick up a scabbard for only 25 bucks. I always wanted one but was not willing to spend over 40 bucks or so for one. I will see if it has a tag with a brand name and advise. MIKE.
