Before pic. It was a sad looking 43 BSA No.4 MK.1. Bubba did not do anything that could not be fixed. At $150 from an estate auction I figured it was worth a go. If your curious that is my 43 Savage above it. All Savage parts and U.S. property marked. Better lighting would show off it's stripes more.
Done pic. An order to Springfield Sporters and Gunparts Corp. about a weeks wait and some fifth teen parts later she's done. The parts are all British and the wood is English walnut. The stock was very dry and has the "Ishy" screw. It took a number of coats of linseed oil and still could use some more. Some minor fitting was needed and everything needed a bath in the parts cleaner. I quick trip to test fire before the latest snow storm yielded good results. I was able to hit my 300 and 400 yard plates pretty well. I forgot how smooth shooting these are compared to the magnums I shoot. I was using some Wolf Gold 174 gr. and plan to test it with my pet handload. Fun project overall and I liked how it turned out.
I know the 1907 sling is not really correct but it came with it and I used it to sling up for distance shots. It is junk and will be replaced with a proper sling.
