I've been lurking for ages but haven't had a reasonable question to ask up until now.

I've got a shot at a NIB pre-ban 6601 for $1500.
I don't know anything else about it; i.e. small/large front pin, etc.

Given the asking price... is this worth looking into? My gut reaction is that it's a little high but I haven't been following prices that closely. How high would you guys go for something like this?

I would go ahead and purchase it if that is what you really want. There are better deals out there but the Colts are gonna stay expensive and I doubt you'll be able to beat that by much.  I sold a similar Colt 3 years ago for $1400, (like new, no box)

Sounds a bit high, IMO. If I may ask, why bother with the pre-ban model? I have a post 6601 that shoots just wonderful & uses all of the same mags as a pre. Save yourself the $600-700 & get a post, IMO.

I bought a similar one (like-new no box), small pin, pre-drilled for standard push pin Dec. 26, 2000, for $1000, complete with cleaning kit, op man, 1400+ rds of ammo, ammo can, sling, 2 x 30 rd like new USGI mag, and 2 like new Colt 5/20 rd mags.

ddc, it is high in WA.  It should be closer to $1,300, depending on accessories, number of mags, etc.
